      Description

Develop a common roadmap template for use by the Kuali projects. This higher level template wouldn't replace the detailed timelines/roadmaps/project plans needed by the individual projects for planning and communicating to their constituencies.

      3-layer approach to roadmaps:
      *Kuali Roadmap (highest level)
      *Kuali Application Roadmaps (more detail)
      *Project Timelines/Plans (most detail)

          From Tom earlier:

Sounds good - I think I see what the objective is here. Couple questions off the top of my head:
          1. I'm assuming this will be for general public consumption? Maybe hosted somewhere on the main Kuali.org site? Or will this be for a more internal crowd?
          2. Any particular format in mind for this (i.e. single flat image file, pdf, or perhaps a more dynamic/interactive presentation)?

          Here's an initial offering:

          http://mypage.iu.edu/~thrclark/kuali/roadmap/docs/roadmap-all.html

Everything should be clickable...be sure to click around & drag the timeline to see the interactions.

          Feedback?

          Looks awesome!

Is there some sort of button or marker option to take the user to or indicate the current date? And, along that thought, show that in the middle of the timeline when first opening it by default?

When zooming in, it might be useful to show the months at some level.

Here's the plugin & documentation that I've used for this:

          https://github.com/VeriteCo/TimelineJS

Re: Snapping to the current date, this might technically be possible, but would require a bit of modification to the authored code. We might want to get some general signoff on the overall direction from ARC before getting our hands dirty with a lot of modifications.

Re: "When zooming in, it might be useful to show the months at some level." The plugin is dynamic in that it will display hours, days, months, years according to the amount of data rendered in the view. That's why in the "all' view, you see months, and in the 'Rice' view, you only get years. However, if we add more details to the individual project roadmaps (milestones, etc), the months would start to show up.

Thanks for looking and for the explanations, I'm all for keeping the code as close to vanilla as we can.
