EW & JN have some concerns about using this in maintenance docs or any place where there is a delay due to having a doc in workflow.

Comments from other Jira about tooltip edit (similar concept):

Applications would like users to be able to utilize a control (entering information for example) from within a tooltip activated from a link or button.
For some KC examples they are using the following http://vitalets.github.com/x-editable/demo.html
Jerry Neal notes: "We were thinking about using BubblePopup which is what we use now for tooltips (and why I thought we might want to track this with a different Jira). However the student use case is a bit different, they want to show a full group (not just a field). So might be we implement the KC functionality using the inline widget and the other using BubblePopup."
2 examples are attached from KS and KC.

The bubble/tooltip edits can be problematic from a usability perspective, so we want to be careful when we use them. Recommend looking at the KC POC prototype as they have done a lot of work with the inline editing functionality.
